The Jaffaria Waqf Directorate announced the implementation of Shaikh Aziz Mosque and Islamic Centre in Sehla Village, where it would be an architectural Islamic masterpiece of Islamic heritage combined with innovative architectural designs.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Jaffaria Waqf Board, Shaikh Mohsin Al Asfoor stated: “It is hoped that this project will be one of the most prominent Islamic and architectural landmarks in Bahrain, and the project will include a bridge between two mosques which are: Shaikh Aziz Mosque and Shaikh Isa Mosque, and will be implemented on a total area of 5327 meters”.
The project of Shaikh Aziz Mosque and Islamic Centre has five floors and can accommodate 2,300 worshippers. The ground floor will overlook a garden and rest room for visitors, while the first floor of the bridge will include a parking space that accommodates 40 cars, and the second floor will include a market that can accommodate up to 23 shops, while the third floor will include the prayer room for men and the same for women in the fourth floor. The project includes two Islamic libraries and two halls for reading and teaching the Quran.
Al Asfoor added: “In this project we keen on removing all the problems that appeared on previous projects, as in the past, the proposed expansion was extremely limited and couldn’t accommodate the number of worshipers and there was no parking space. However, in the new proposal we solved all the previous problems, where the mosque will be surrounded by an iron fence and green space, and the visitors can come across the bridge from the other side which is connected to Shaikh Isa Mosque, which is located on the opposite side”.
