The Jaffaria Waqf Directorate announced the launch of the (smart mosque) which will be implemented for the first time in Bahrain. It is a unique architectural masterpiece that simulates the Islamic architecture and the Bahraini identity.
The Chairman of the Jaffaria Waqf Board, Shaikh Mohsin Al Asfoor explained: “The design of this mosque would be typical in all technical and engineering aspects, as the dimensions of the initial size will be seven meters in seven meters and can be increased if needed, commensurate with the requirements of the small and medium- sized mosques. The two-story mosque can accommodate nearly one hundred worshipers, and is made using precast concrete and will be constructed in one day”.
Al Asfoor stated: “This mosque has a lot of great features such as the investment of the area, as it will be built on a limited geographical area and it will not take more than one day. The mosque can be dismantled and moved if needed, and can be expanded in the future”. He added: “One of the main features of the smart mosque is the low cost of construction that worth about BD 20,000 which is a favorable price” Lighting the smart mosque would be through a solar power system and this system will be applied in all areas. This smart mosque will contribute to unify the general appearance of the small and medium-sized mosques, as it will be built to replace the ramshackle old mosques, and the arget regions will be selected in coordination with the Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning, Ministry of Housing and as per the request of people.
The mosques will also be provided with advanced speakers systems. Al Asfoor noted: “There is no conflict at all between the smart mosque project and the plan to build large mosques which are constructed by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stressing that the smart mosque project will meet the needs of all residential neighborhoods and 153 the new areas or those that do not have enough mosques, as well as meet the needs of the universities, parks, gardens, gyms and industrial areas”.
